CBD WORKSHOP: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26!

From: Lisa Findley
Wednesday, October 26, 2011
Location: Back of the Nave

Time: 3-7 PM

Event: Expert workshop in Structures and Building Energy for CBD student projects. Students will have 30-49 minutes per team with at least one expert in each arena.

Who: A bunch of structural and building energy folks who will provide redline sessions to our student projects. I have communicated in advance that the partis of the projects are set, and that the role of the workshop is to advance and clarify the design while supporting the larger ideas. Many of the people who will be there are experienced in these workshops.

Students should bring their climate assessment data for the building energy discussion. As for the project: two sets of the following: 1) Groundfloor plan with all site information including vegetation, etc., 2) all other plans, 3) Structural diagrams, drawings, ideas, 4) Three building sections with initial building energy, heat/cooling diagrams. All drawings should clearly designate building enclosure lines, glazing, multi-story spaces or atria, etc. All students should be prepared to present their project clearly and succinctly in about 5 minutes.

Faculty activity during this workshop: There will be a table in the Nave for each teaching team so that you can also work with the students on their projects. This day will not take away form desk crit time, it only enhances it.

Coffee, tea and cookies to be provided to Experts and Faculty to keep the whole thing going.

Best,
Lisa
